Sunday's Cool News

Volunteers are always welcome and much needed! Applications for teachers, assistants and other volunteers can be found here.

Oberde

Sunday's Cool and CFHI (Canadian Food for the Hungry International) are partnering to sponsor Oberde Fresandieu.

Oberde is a five year old boy from Haiti.   In Sunday's Cool classes children will have the opportunity to learn more about Osberde and children like him, to pray for him and to give an offering to help support him financially.

Parents are asked to help their children support Oberde by discussing the privilege we have of joining the work of God in the developing world by helping children like Oberde.  Discuss the living conditions of Oberde and children like him. Pray with your children for Oberde and help your child to support him with a monetary contribution to the offering taken in Sunday's Cool classes each week.

My Story:

Hello, I am a young boy. I have 2 sisters and 3 brothers. My mother is a vendor and my father is a farmer. I live with my parents. My health is fair and my progress is good. In school, my favourite subject is grammar. When I get home from school, I help my family by animal care. I enjoy bicycle riding.

I live only two miles from the Dominican Republic border in a small rural community in Haiti. Our families live in wooden houses with metal sheet roofs and dirt floors. Most of us grow corn and peanuts, but it's hard to grow them during droughts.

The Child Development Program (CDP) is helping leaders in my community set up a public school so that my friends and I can get a good education. They are also helping organize and train local health workers and setting up a water and sanitation program so that we can be as healthy and strong as possible.

Thank you for caring for me as my life is so much better now. Please pray for me and my family as we work to overcome our daily struggles. Thank you for providing me with hope for my future.
